David Catherine Introligator French Made BakingWe are David and Catherine Introligator, a French couple born and raised in France and we share a love of anything sweet.

We inherited the love of baking from our parents and started making cakes at a young age in the family kitchen. We remained avid home-bakers until we moved to Vancouver, Canada, in 2009 where we fulfilled our dream of opening our own pastry shop, French Made Baking, French pâtisserie and crêpes café.

We shared our buttery artisanal fare with Vancouverites for 6 years, first at Farmers’ markets, then in a brick-and-mortar location in Mount Pleasant. We are proud to say that our little family bakery consistently ranked among the best bakeries in town (2017 “Top 3 Bakeries” in Vancouver award, 4.5*/5 on Yelp, Google and Facebook, top 3 macarons shops…).

Our specialty was French macaronswe had 15 to 18 different flavours available every day, including some seasonal and giant ones but we also baked a whole range of French classics like croissants, canelés, éclairs, brioche... We loved nothing more than to give a French touch to North-American classics like cheesecake and carrot cake.

large macaron hispahanWe were eager to share our knowledge with other pastry amateurs and there was often a waiting list to register to our macarons, croissants and cream puff classes.

After 9 years in the Pacific Northwest, the distance with family and friends back in France started to become too much of a burden and we decided to leave Vancouver and closed our shop. It was a heartbreaking but necessary decision to stay true to who we areLong time customers were devastated at the thought they wouldn’t be able to find our tasty macarons, chocolate lava cakes and croissants any more.

That’s how the idea to start an online pastry school came to us, so that French Made Baking’s recipes would continue to live on.

We started as home-bakers and learned on the job. We know that passion, dedication and practice is all you need to be a successful baker. Of course having a mentor to share their experience and guide you is of tremendous help.  That’s who we want to be, your mentor. We won’t overwhelm you with technical vocabulary or complicated explanations. Our step-by-step videos we will teach you simply, clearly and thoroughly everything you need to know to wow everyone with your baking skills!
